Shock Treatments

Shock Treatment Chemicals will breakdown chloramines and clear green pools

There are other impurities in pool water in addition to bacteria, algae and viruses. They are called chloramines. Although not a direct health risk, they need to be broken down so as to maintain water that is of a high quality which is pleasant to bathe in.

High chloramine levels are responsible for eye-sting and the unpleasant, stale chlorine smell that many people associate with old-fashioned swimming baths.

In order to eliminate chloramines it is necessary to use a shock treatment to super chlorinate the pool with a high dose of free chlorine.

In addition at some stage, chlorine levels may have fallen, or chlorine has become ineffective allowing algae to become established in the water. By utilising a shock treatment, it will in fact kill the algae. The fastest results are usually from Fi-Clor Superfast Shock.
