UV Stabilised
Ultra Violet (UV) rays are emitted by the sun and are partly absorbed by the Ozone layer. UV light is destructive not only to the human skin but also to many man made materials including polyethylene and plastic products. Unless such materials are specially treated, they become faded and brittle if exposed to UV light. Plastipack’s scientifically balanced polyethylene materials which form the solar bubble pool covers are stabilised to protect them from harmful UV rays so that they retain their flexibility and colour and last longer.

All bubble covers are designed to float directly on the water surface. A solar bubble pool cover is made from a translucent material to maximise energy gain from sunlight i.e. the Sol+ Guard 500 Micron Solar Cover. A heat retention or heat absorbing bubble covers like the Gold 500 Micron Solar Cover are generally made from dark opaque coloured material, designed to minimise energy loss and absorb the suns heat. Heat reflective bubble covers are designed for very hot climates to reflect the suns heat away from the pool surface, and are generally made from light opaque coloured material designed to reflect the suns heat.

Solar Bubble Swimming Pool Covers are Generally produced using two ply’s of polyethylene material with additives to colour, help strengthen and protect against, UV (Ultra Violet) light, the suns heat and pool chemicals. The bottom layer is generally formed into air cells that help insulate, support / float on the surface of the pool water. The flat top surface is normally co-extruded or laminated to the bottom layer to form a flat surface.

Chemical Resistance
Even the lowest dose of pool chemical can adversely effect the quality of some solar bubble swimming pool covers. This material is scientifically tested to ensure that it will resist most frequently used swimming pool chemicals, such as chlorine granules and chlorine tablets, to give the maximum possible life expectancy to pool covers.
